Minimalist design: only zeros
The first time you land on zerosoftware.ai you see a white screen with a black zero in the middle. No animated hamburger menu, no logo carousel, no purple gradient. A zero.
It's not a landing page under construction. It's the finished site. And every decision we made there says the same thing our business model says.
The zero is the roadmap
For us the zero is not a logo. It's the entire product specification:
- Software at $0. Everything we build is open source. Download it, audit it, host it. It costs zero because bits cost zero.
- Zero margin. If you'd rather we run it, you pay what the cloud charges. Not a penny more. Not a penny less.
- Zero lock-in. Your data and your code leave whenever you want. The door has no key.
When your business model fits in a single glyph, you don't need twenty slides to explain it. The whole site is one sentence.
A zero made of hundreds of zeros
The zero in the center is not an image. It's a composition: hundreds of small zeros, each one a character, tracing the outline of a bigger zero. And they're interactive: bring your cursor close and they react, move aside, come back.
There's a technical reason for this. The software we build works the same way: simple, identical, auditable pieces that, combined, produce something with structure. A 300-byte redirect. A row in a database. A SQL query anyone can read. No proprietary magic hidden in a binary.
The interactivity isn't a whim either. It's proof that minimal doesn't mean poor. With a single typographic character and a mouse event you can build something people touch, move and remember. That's engineering: solving with less.
Black, white and a single typeface
The site has no color. Literally: two values, #000 and #fff. That's not corporate colorblindness. It's a position.
Color in SaaS design is a sedative. The purple gradients, the "success" greens, the trust blues: they exist so something mediocre can feel premium. We have nothing to sedate. The product either works or it doesn't, and black and white is the most honest way to say it: nothing here is dressed up.
The typeface is monospaced. The one from terminals, diffs and logs. It's the typeface software is built with, not the one it's sold with. If you read our site in the same font you read your code in, it's because we speak the same language.
Design as manifesto, not decoration
Most software sites are decoration: layers of animations, illustrations and testimonials on top of a product that isn't enough. Ours works the other way around. The design is the argument.
Fewer things on screen means fewer things to load, fewer things to break, fewer things tracking you. The page weighs about as much as a text file. It loads instantly on any connection. And there's not a single pixel there to convince you of something the numbers don't say.
The zero is not Pinterest minimalism. It's a contract: everything we promise fits in that symbol. Software at $0, zero margin, zero lock-in.
If a company dares to put its business model on the front page, in a single character, it's at least worth listening to.
